Where one or both of the main characters is an author

Summary: With his college dreams and life plans frozen in his past, Steve Rogers spends his days working a dead-end job, taking care of his ma and niece, doing street art, and occasionally riding his bike. But when Bucky Barnes, his best friend’s older brother, makes a surprising return home after being gone for years, many of the dreams he had learned to shield himself from start to make his way into his life, making him struggle to reconcile his own desires with his fears and responsibilities. (based on Shelter, the 2007 movie, but not a play by play)

Summary: After a Russian bomb in Ukraine ends combat photographer Bucky Barnes’ career several decades ahead of schedule, he returns to the lake house he hasn’t visited since his parents died to put the pieces back together over the long, lonely winter. He’s got no idea what his life is supposed to look like now that he’s not constantly on the move and facing danger every day, but an unexpected friendship with his elderly neighbor—and then her astronaut son—leads to the kind of connection he never thought he’d get to have. (A holiday fic, sort of. Posting complete.)

Summary: “Tell me you don’t want this,” Steve said, the smallest part of him afraid Bucky would say just that, “tell me you don’t want me, and I’ll -” he sighed, “I’ll give you a shirt, and a fucking coat,” he added as another roll of thunder shook the house, “and - and I’ll let you go, James.” His stomach coiled around the words, around the dread of not having his arms heavy with the man’s weight, and at the seconds that passed as Bucky blinked back at him. When Bucky shook his head, his brows forming a deep frown, Steve braced himself for the impact of pain caused by his own horrible miscalculation. “Fuck you, Steve Rogers,” Bucky said, but instead of moving away his palms cupped Steve’s jaw and brought their lips back together, and it was too soft; more gentle than any of the others, taking Steve’s breath away. “That’s what I thought,” Steve murmured into their kiss. ---- Or, the story of how ex-military turned Author - James Barnes collides with ex- Army Commander turned Lumberjack/Fisherman Steve Rogers and all the ensuing fluff, drama, romance that comes their way

Summary: Bucky frowns deeply, clicking open the NYT best sellers list. #2. He’s number two. His new book, which he poured heart and soul, blood, sweat, and so many tears into, is number two. On the NYT best seller’s list. He rolls over and closes his eyes, hoping it was all just a bad dream and that he’ll wake up soon… Because the name on top of the New York Times Best Sellers List in the romance genre seemed to be none other than Steven G Rogers. // Bucky Barnes, award-winning romance novelist, is dismayed to learn that his publisher is sending him on a book tour with Steve Rogers, a fantasy author who recently topped the NY Times Bestseller list for his first and only romance novel and Bucky’s personal authorial adversary. As they’re sent off to spend several months touring 50 US cities together, they’ll attempt to overcome their differences and leave the past behind them… maybe they’ll even find love. Summary: Steven Grant Rogers: Male, 32 years old, former Army Captain, present day art professor at NYU. James Grant: Male, 33 years old, mysterious writer of a book that sounds a lot like Steve and Bucky’s life, told from Bucky’s point of view. But Bucky’s dead. He died in action during the Iraq war- didn’t he? (Or: The one where Bucky’s supposed to be dead, Steve’s supposed to have moved on, but there’s a book and two very amused friends.)
