For all ghostly stories, including specters, proper ghosts, imagined ghosts

Summary: “Captain America is haunting me,” Bucky says over a bowl of ramen. His pronouncement is met with a round of silence. “Captain America,” Natasha says. “As in--” “The first Avenger,” Bucky confirms. “Supersoldier and hero of World War II. The fabric of the American conscience.” “But he’s--dead,” Sam says. His look of perplexed concern, ever perplexed and ever concerned, only increases. “You’re aware of that, right?” “I know,” Bucky says. “That’s why I said he’s haunting me.”

Summary: Bucky is trying to piece together the shards of his life after escaping from an abusive ex. Desperate to stop living off his sister's couch he jumped at the chance to snag his own place, ignoring the suspiciously low rent. Little did he know the apartment came with a surprise roommate in the form of Captain America's ghost.

Summary: Steve thought he had finally found the perfect place to live. It was bright, airy, and miraculously free from mold and other unwelcome infestations. Well, for the most part. He hadn't signed on for a roommate, especially not one who'd been dead for eighty-odd years.

Summary: “Whaddya mean, ‘something in your apartment?’” Nat looks at Bucky dubiously as she swirls her vodka tonic. Thankfully it’s early on a Wednesday at Dynaco so she doesn’t have to shout. Bucky shrugs and takes a swig of his beer. “Just what I said, it feels like someone’s there, right behind me, and when I look around, there’s no one. It’s just me. But it’s weird.” Nat’s perfect eyebrow raises as she sips her drink. “You sure it’s not all the drinking and partying you’re doing?” she comments. “Fuck’s sake.” Bucky rolls his eyes, but underneath he’s smiling. Nat is his best friend and knows better than anyone that he hasn’t gone out for the last five days and rarely drinks more than a beer with dinner when he’s home alone.

Summary: Becca and Bucky have spent the last few years living in England as they finish up degrees in Anthropology/Archaeology and Historical Engineering respectively. Neither were able to find paying jobs in their chosen fields, and the end of their lease is looming close. London is expensive, and they begin to worry about where they could possibly live. Then, an unknown Great Uncle dies suddenly, and names Bucky (by way of legal loophole) heir to the castle he lived in. In Germany. And sure, it’s run down, they have barely any furniture, and it’s tucked away remotely in the mountains between Germany and the Czech Republic, but hey? Free house? Bucky supposes the brush with death that made him able to see the ghosts of Captain America, Agent Carter and the Howling Commandos is just the price he has to pay for it. -- Part of the 2021 Shrunkyclunks BigBang!
