#royalty & regency [category - ongoing]

Updated: Aug 2

Also including regency (lords/ladies), and Victorian-era

Summary: Baron Grant, nothing more than a small, sickly country gentleman with no fortune and very little to recommend him, has just poured a glass of claret over Duke Barnes, a wealthy lord with the world at his feet. (Podfic by auroreanrave now available)

Summary: Wherein Bucky is the crown prince and Steve still becomes a hero.

Summary: “You seem distressed, my angel. Are you not pleased with the match? The word from court is that Lord James Barnes is an upstanding gentleman, not given to the wild circles around the Prince Regent. And Steve, it was he who asked for you. The young man has kept you in mind all these years -- despite our circumstances.”

Summary: Art & banners by kocuria Prince James of Romania is the first Omega heir to the Romanian throne... and the first to any throne. He's got a reputation to upkeep and he takes that very seriously, as does everyone else and the national and international press. Enter Steve Rogers, Senator's son with a reputation for attending rallies and protests and getting arrested. When they're found in the Palace pool house together following one poor decision at a party made by James, everything changes. Did anything happen? Does it even matter when the press thinks it did? There's only one solution to save James' honour, and that's for him and Steve to marry - and sooner rather than later.

Summary: Prince James is the "People's Prince", second in line for the throne of the United States, and the most eligible bachelor in the world. So why does Steve find Prince James crying at the Princess' wedding? (A modern Cap!Steve Prince!Bucky AU, and my Fandom Trumps Hate fic for Kristen!)

Summary: GREEDY!PRINCE!BUCKY + SKINNY!SERVANT!VIRGIN!STEVE (that's a mouthful lol), ROYALTY AU PROMPT: "So I’ve been watching 'Kings' and I cannot get the picture of greedy!royal!Bucky out of my head - secretly fucking the little blond servant boy that’s been driving him nuts, running around in that uniform, always way too shy…" Bucky’s never had to desire for anything his entire life. He’s used to getting exactly what he wants. With one exception. Every time his primary page-boy, Steven, bathes him, the Prince wants to ravish him until the smaller boy is a mess... 'Don't bed the servants' sounds simple in theory, but once the Prince is around his golden-haired little page-boy, it's easy to want to forget. Steven is what he can’t have – is not allowed to have – and for that reason, he’s just about the one person Bucky’s wanted the most for the last two years. The blond is like his own horribly dirty secret… His forbidden obsession - making him moan in his sleep from the filthiest of dreams, and setting his nerve-endings on fire when the fantasies aid his hand around his cock whenever he brings himself to orgasm.

Summary: “Your son was said to be as beautiful as Brooklyn’s sweet apple blossoms,” Barnes said, and his lips lifted in another smile, then his eyes moved and Steve was startled by the intensity of his gaze. Barnes gave pause, long enough that Steve’s heartbeat picked up again. Then he spoke again. “But no blossom could compare,” he said. “Not even the most perfect of untouched flowers.” Steve felt his cheeks heat up; he blushed right to the roots of his hair, pulled back from his face by Wanda’s best braids. Barnes’s gaze somehow intensified even more as his gaze just shifted enough that Steve was sure he saw him blush that far. Barnes’s lip lifted at one corner by a hair. “I’ve never been gladder to have my expectations so far exceeded,” he concluded.

Summary: Steves spent his whole life wishing he'd be able to decide his own fate but when a foreign army invades and Steve finds himself getting sold into a marriage with a complete stranger that wish comes to an end. Steve can only hope that his life being Bucky's Barnes mate will be better then any other life he could have had.

Summary: Life is going great until the day Bucky Barnes finds Crown Prince Steven Grant bleeding out on his lands. Then it only gets better.

Summary: For as long as anyone could remember, Bucky had been Steve’s best friend. As they grew, it was quite obvious what was blossoming between them. Upon Steve presenting as an Omega, the Alpha in Bucky was already demanding his claim be put on Steve's pretty neck. But Bucky was the low-born son of a palace cook and Steve was the heir to the throne. Theirs was a love not meant to be. The King had not pushed for more heirs after having a son, and after his son failed to turn out the Alpha he had wanted, he refused to see an Omega take the throne. His Omega child would have to bear Alpha sons, and soon. So the King arranged for a tournament to be held; the prize, the Omega-Prince's hand in marriage. Per the laws of the kingdom, entry to the tournament was open to any honorable knight, bearing he pay a fee. That fee should have ensured that no Alphas of low status entered and certainly, the King would not willingly allow his son's best friend, knight and member of the Queen's Guard though he be, compete in the tournament. It was fortunate, then, that fate was on the side of the underdog that time.

Summary: Steve knows him as Bucky long before he learns about Prince James. [Fusion with NBC Kings.]

Summary: "Just for the record, Steve hated his soulmark. He understood that every soulmark is unique and he could have something as generic as 'hello', which would make it almost impossible to correctly identify his soulmate, but come-the-fuck-on fate, his soulmark was a joke. And the words that were on his skin since the day he was born, the phrase that everyone in his family feared, the tattoo that he hated with his entire heart was: "Any last words, princess?". His soulmate provided him with the simple fact: there will be at least one assassination attempt directed at him and, to make it even more exciting, no one knows if it will be successful or not." Or Steve is sure that his soulmate will try to kill him, but he stops worrying about it when he meets future Queen of Romania and her devastatingly handsome brother.

Summary: It's been six years since Bucky lost his title, his wealth, and his freedom in an ill-fated bandit attack that left his family and friends dead. Now, he works in his old family estate as a slave to Lord Alexander Pierce and his two retainers, Sir Brock and Sir Jack, who treat Bucky as little more than an animal due to his omega designation. When word comes that Crown Prince Steven is hosting a ball to choose a mate, Lord Pierce seizes his chance to pay off his debts by making Bucky seduce the Prince and bear his child. Unbeknownst to Lord Pierce, Prince Steven is actually Bucky's childhood friend, Steven Grant Rogers, who took on a new name after recovering from the bandit attack. Steve spots Bucky at the ball and escorts him outside to talk privately, setting off a chain of events that changes all their lives forever. A Stucky A/B/O Cinderella AU featuring omega Bucky who's got a stronger will than anyone knows, gentle and righteous alpha Steve, scheming bastard Alexander Pierce, and a well-deserved happy ending. Cross-fill for Stucky Bingo 2019 (square: "A/B/O") and Hurt/Comfort Bingo Round 10 (square: "scars").

Summary: He drinks up everything Bucky says as he promises himself, commits himself. Steve aches to touch him, to undress him and reveal that sweet body, to bring his omega pleasures that he cannot fathom. He wants to open this flower, take his body like no other ever has, to hoard every moan and tremble. His blood sings at the promise of it, the certainty that their bodies will be joined as one in mere hours. Steve simply cannot wait to devour his omega whole, to make him his forever. [Kinktober Day 10: innocence kink/virginity] [Stucky Bingo Fill: AU - A/B/O]

Summary: So do I remind you of someone you've never met, a lonely silhouette? And do I remind you of somewhere you want to be, so far out of reach? I wish you'd open up for me, 'cause I want to know you ... amaryllis bloom. // In 19th century Europe, Bucky and Steve are members of neighboring royal families. Steve is the heir to a throne he does not want, and Bucky is the neglected third child waiting to be married off and forgotten about. Trapped in unhappy lives by seemingly immovable circumstances, they find a way out in each other.

Summary: A prince, a guardsman, a garden. When a curse is placed upon Prince James which says he is to be the instrument of his kingdom’s destruction, it’s decided that for his own good (and everyone else’s) he should be sent away from the royal city and the palace. Bucky goes into his exile with only a single solitary guardsman for both company and protection. Steve doesn’t know what to make of his new assignment—it could be a promotion or a punishment in equal measure. Personal guard to one of the royal family is an honor, but now he’s locked in a walled garden, uncertain of just who it is he’s been tasked to protect. Yet Prince James seems set on surprising him from the start. (The rest of the story is a fairy tale, or something like it...)

Summary: Two hundred years ago, a dark mage named the Red Merlin cast a curse on the Middle Kingdom: that every crown prince born to the royal family would die at the age of twenty one. Protected by another Merlin's sacrifice, for two hundred years, the royal family has had only daughters. Until the middle of one fateful night. When the protective spell finally runs out, the royal family is left with only this: a Crown Prince, doomed to die, a legend, and an enchanted sword in a stone.

Summary: Bucky had no idea he was royalty. To be fair, it’s not like they had DNA tests and ancestry databases when he was a kid. But now? Turns out his sisters had kids, and their kids had kids, and someone got a multi-pack discount on DNA test kits.

Summary: One year. That's all the time Prince James "Bucky" Barnes has left before he's crowned King of Brooklyn and all the responsibilities of ruling a kingdom fall upon his shoulders. The expression heavy is the crown can't ring any truer. Unfortunately, Bucky knows very little of the kingdom he's meant to rule since his Regent Uncle has been doing it in his stead for the past fifteen years after the tragic death of his parents. After an unexpected announcement is made by the Regent, Bucky realizes the only way he'll ever experience anything is to run away with his dæmon, Winter. But one night on his own is enough to have Bucky ready to call it quits. Roughing it is definitely not for him. That is until he meets Steve Rogers and his dæmon, Captain—Brooklyn's most notorious pair of common riffraff thieves. Bucky's view of himself, the world, and everything he's ever learned will be tested while he's with Steve and his ragtag team of misfits. And some hearts will be changed forever along the way.

Summary: “No.” “Bucky—” “It’s not happening. I’m not helping.” Or: Steve is a scheming prince, Bucky is his best friend and bodyguard, and they’re both pining idiots.

Summary: In a kingdom faraway, Bucky is betrothed to an alpha he does not love, and begins an affair with the palace's gardener.

Summary: Just then a man makes his way from the front of the shop. He’s gorgeous, even covered in soot or whatever that is, grimy and sweaty and Bucky wants nothing more than to tangle his fingers in that messy blond hair and kiss him senseless. His eyes snap to Bucky’s as he finally notices him and the blue of those eyes takes his breath away. “Hey!” he shouts and it’s instantly obvious that he doesn’t recognize the prince. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” “Sorry!” Bucky chuckles and flashes his most charming grin, holding his hands up in surrender. “Sorry, sorry. The door was open and I just had to get away from my-“ “I don’t care how much you hate your wife or who-the-fuck-ever it is, get out of my-“ “Do you seriously not recognize me?” Bucky balks, shamelessly interrupting. Hey, he did it first and two can play at that game. “Should I?” the blond asks. And Bucky can’t help but laugh at that, long and loud as he shakes his head. The stranger scowls and narrows his eyes suspiciously and goes on, “Look, I don’t care who you are. You can’t be back here, so kindly fuck off please.” Bucky just laughs harder, hands going up again, and he knows instantly he’s in love.

Summary: Captain Steven G Rogers returns from the war - a Naval Captain, decorated sailor, successful, respected, and in possession of a small fortune. He agrees to move temporarily into the residence of his younger married sister, Natasha, and her wife Wanda, only to find that she is letting her house from the family of the young man who broke his heart not eight years previously. James B Barnes. A retelling of Jane Austen’s Persuasion - from The Captain’s perspective

Summary: Prince Bucky of Muirias hasn't had a historically great relationship with the Media. He's sick of the tabloid headlines which have speculated about his life and relationships ever since he'd come out to the public. So when he gets the opportunity to go out and travel around the world, away from the headlines and publicity, he jumps at the chance. A bit of time away is exactly what he needs. Travel, escapism, and absolutely zero drama. At least, that's the plan. The plan doesn't involve bumping into a total stranger and falling head over heels for him (Literally), but, well, Bucky's not exactly complaining.

Summary: ‘Dear Winter, It feels odd to me to address you as such, you who are supposed to be my companion, while knowing that this is not your true name. It feels disingenuous on my part, however, being the pawn in whatever game Miss Romanova has concocted with Mr Barton, I am compelled to adhere to these rules, such as they are, even if I do not understand their purpose. || Steve Rogers cannot truly be called a struggling artist not when he has the patronage of the distinguished Miss Natalia Romanova at his back, but that doesn't mean he isn't struggling. On the hunt to secure a gallery show by any means necessary, Steve finds himself caught up in schemes beyond his control. The mob has threatened his mother and Miss Romanova has set him up with an anonymous pen pal of all things. Steve cannot afford to be distracted. But when the ever-irritating James Buchanan Barnes works his way into Steve's life and just won't leave? He can't help himself. Could there be more? Or is it only gilded?

Summary: Sir Steven, knight, alpha, and baron of a small countryside estate, receives an invitation to a Royal Tournament: It’s a winner-take-all competition, and the prize? The hand of Prince James, the kingdom’s most eligible omega, in marriage. It seems like a lifetime ago that young Steven left the palace – and his best pal, the prince - to attend to his familial duties. Since that time, he’s dreamed of reclaiming his friendship with the prince; if not as a companion, then perhaps as a member of the prince’s guard. Prince James, royal, omega, and heir to the throne is tired of being reduced to his designation and pressured into an arranged marriage like a political pawn. He devises the tournament as a means to an end: winner claims his hand in marriage, but if he wins? He’ll get to claim his own future. Let the tournament begin...

Summary: “There’s another room, and I think there’s someone in it.” They all quieted, listening intently. Steve could just make out the sound of movement, and perhaps something metallic clinking, within. An armed man? Steve nodded at the others, and all three raised their weapons. Sam opened the door, and they moved as one, breaching the room— —only to stop still at the sight that awaited them. There was a man, a boy really, in the room, but he was alone. In the faint light of their lone torch in the windowless room, Steve could see he was dirty and naked, crouching on the thin, filthy pallet on the floor—and his wrists and ankles were in chains. After a second, Steve’s nose caught up with his eyes. He had largely been ignoring his strongest sense, since the whole keep smelled so pungently of filth, of untold unwashed bodies. The smell had been even stronger upstairs, but now it was overpowering, and overlaid with a new scent—an omega, frightened near to death. *** While in pursuit of a pack of bandits, Sir Steven Rogers, Captain of the King's Guard, comes across an abused, abandoned omega. A medieval hurt/comfort ABO AU.

Summary:

Being part of the Wakandan King's Guard was a job Bucky never thought he'd fall into. But apart from the uniform, it was a great gig, especially since he got to stare at Captain Steve Rogers when the changing of the guard occurred. The same Captain who six months earlier promised him the night of his life then disappeared, ignoring him after.

So when Bucky ends up on duty with Steve, he wasn't expecting to be recognised, nor was he expecting a rogue intruder to interrupt his less than platonic thoughts.

First save the palace - second get the guy?

Or was there some other plan in motion that Bucky didn't know about?

Summary:

Two Houses, both alike in dignity

In fair Venora, where we lay our scene

Not a typo. ;) Three years after a brutal, bloody war that saw their formerly friendly queendoms at odds for the first time in history, Prince Steven Rogers of House Grant seeks to solidify the peace between Lehigh and Venora through an alliance--marriage with Prince James Barnes of House Buchanan, his childhood friend turned unexpected enemy. But after years as the Fist of Hydra and a long recovery from brainwashing and torture, Bucky isn't in a place to marry anyone, let alone someone he doesn't even remember. Stubborn to the core, afflicted by tragic losses, and still half in love with someone who might only be a memory, Steve and his family journey to Lynbrooke, the capital of Venora, to attempt to end the tension between their queendoms, and perhaps heal his wounded heart.
